Attempting any studying today is useless, so let's question meme instead! Ask me anything about my characters, playstyle, other rp related things, whateverrr. And then I'll ask things back and together we can entertain each other
Characters are: Gokudera/Nova at Thusia, Kaoru at Deco and Aather, and Yayoi everywhere because I can. Jabberwock and The Wood are my NPCs but I reserve the right to just be cryptic in replies to questions about them. :)

Kaoru does not even know how to deal with Elliot. I mean, yes1 He knows how to navigate the minefield of talking with him pretty well, and he never feels threatened with him. He's comfortable in their relationship and is very grateful for the support and company he gets from it. He really would be much worse off than he is right now if he didn't have Elliot to cry on every now and then.
But he doesn't really get why Elliot is so determined to stay with him. He has been developing some serious self-hatred (some of which he isn't fully conscious of), so he just flat out can't see what Elliot sees in him. He doesn't feel like he's actually good enough for Elliot and never intended to stay with him (still doesn't intend it entirely, even after the latest thread), but every time Elliot insists that they stay together it chips away a little more at that resolve. It's very hard to let go of someone that doesn't want to let you go.
Especially when you basically adore them. He knows Elliot isn't perfect and that he can be an idiot about things, but he's seen enough of him to get a good look at how good-hearted and determined he is under his poor communication skills and overly aggressive personality. :') He loves the softer sides he gets to see and just thinks he's really completely adorable when you can get him to calm down. He admires his strength of conviction even if he makes fun of it from time to time, and he can appreciate his stance on things even though he hates it too and wishes he'd just murder something sometimes. Just have a self preservation instinct!!!
Basically he is very smitten with Elliot and doesn't really understand how he's been lucky enough to manage to keep him for this long.

The whole relationship aspect is sort of like I explained on plurk in that it's a combination of Elliot's kind of naive romanticism with regards to relationships and his complete stubbornness to see that romanticism come to life. Basically, Elliot has impressed a lot on the silly stupid knight stories he read as a kid and the rules of polite society, etc. So he never really anticipated that the person he'd wind up marrying would be someone that he necessarily loved or was fond of from the get go but by contrast he was absolutely certain he would be able to build a loving and trusting relationship on the foundation of that because That's What You Do When You Are Married.
Though instead of actually marrying anyone, Kaoru has slotted himself directly into that. As far as Elliot's concerned, as long as he's certain that being with him is something that Kaoru wants, he refuses to let it go. He'll do whatever he can to try to work through their differences, to deal with whatever problems he feels might be driving them apart, and to make sure that he's someone who can be properly supportive of Kaoru whenever he's having a difficult time or when he needs someone that he can trust. That's what Elliot sees an ideal relationship as and since this is his relationship he wants it to be as close to the ideal as possible.
As far as his actual feelings are concerned, he's still sort of confused and uncertain in a couple of different areas. He does admire Kaoru, he appreciates that Kaoru is someone he can trust and rely on, and someone who's coming to understand him for who he is, but he really sort of waffles on the thought of if he loves Kaoru or not and what he'd be willing to go through for his own part with regards to their relationship. Basically, in their last thread, if Kaoru had told him that he didn't want to be with Elliot, then Elliot would have broken the relationship off right there. He's not at a point where his desire to be with Kaoru would override Kaoru's desire to the contrary.
But it still is really nice to have Kaoru around, to be able to rely on him, and to do what he can to make him happy. He's probably not as smitten as Kaoru is, but he really is coming to accept a place where Kaoru is someone irreplaceable to him and at this point he doesn't really foresee what they have being anything but permanent.
So what would make Kaoru bring up the open relationship idea again?

Elliot finds out about the terrible secret of Kaoru's tattoo from Shark. What happens?
